Don't touch your coins. A coin has a greater chance of being valuable if it has not been touched by human hands. Always wear clean cotton gloves when handling uncirculated silver dollar coins. Even well-worn circulated coins should only be handled by the edges to prevent any further wear.

Toning is good. A slight discoloration, or toning, occurs naturally on silver surfaces. This can add to the appearance of your silver dollar coins. As per tip #2 above, never use a tarnish remover on your coins. Many collectors will even pay a premium for attractively toned silver coins.
